Reeplay.it FAQs

What is reeplay.it?

The principle of reeplay.it is that, using the tools we provide (bookmarklet or IE Plugin), you should be able to capture any of your videos from the web (no matter what format or what site) to your own personal playlists and then play it back on any device you own as well as, optionally, being able to share it with your friends and family.

Why is it useful?

reeplay.it makes it convenient to watch videos from many sources on a range of different devices without having to worry about whether it's in the right format. Every day people publish more and more good video on the web but it's hard to keep track of it all. Additionally more and more devices we own can play video from mobile phones, like the iPhone, to games consoles, like the Nintendo Wii. Using reeplay.it it's easy to keep track of good videos, organize them using playlists, play them on any device, and share them with the people close to you.

How does it work?

Once you are signed up you can download and install the reeplay.it bookmarklet or IE plugin. Then, whenever you see a video you like, you can capture the video and save it to your private online storage area. Once a video has been captured you can organize it using playlists, share it with friends and family, and play it back on a range of devices where it will be streamed to you in a format optimized for your device.

Reeplay.it also supports devices that cannot stream media (such as video enabled iPods) through iTunes podcasts. Every reepay.it playlist can be subscribed to in iTunes and your videos downloaded automatically to your device to play off-line.

What sites are supported?

The reeplay.it software works on many of the popular sites where video can be found today and we are extending it all the time. Should your site not be supported right now, please use our feedback service to let us know.

Can I subscribe to playlists in iTunes?

Yes, any reeplay.it playlist can be subscribed to in iTunes so that video from that playlist is automatically downloaded. In iTunes click on podcasts in the sourcelist and, in the "Advanced" menu select "Subscribe to podcast". When prompted for a URL drag the orange RSS icon () into the field. You will then be prompted for your reeplay.it username and password. Once you have supplied them iTunes will begin downloading the videos from your playlist.

What devices are supported?

reeplay.it supports a wide range of popular devices such as mobile phones, portable video players, and set top boxes. We are adding and optimizing support for new devices every day. Should your device not be supported right now, use our feedback service to let us know.

What URL should I use for reeplay.it?

The answer is "it depends". In general you should always be able to use the shortest URL http://reeplay.it/ and the application will detect what device you are using and serve you the appropriate user interface, e.g. for the Wii or Nokia mobile phone. However you can override this by visiting http://www.reeplay.it/ for the PC/Mac interface, http://wii.reeplay.it/ for the Wii interface, and http://mobile.reeplay.it/ for the mobile interface.

How much does it cost?

Use of the basic reeplay.it service (capture tool and storage) including all current functionality are provided to users free of charge.

When will I be able to join?

reeplay.it is currently in private beta. We are adding users who can provide us valuable feedback on many different platforms, keep an eye on performance and a smooth user experience. If you're interested please apply to join the beta.

Where is reeplay.it based?

reeplay.it is a trade mark of Screen Vision UK Ltd, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom with staff and operations in various countries.

With how many people can I share the videos?

You may share your videos only for private use in compliance with the applicable intellectual property laws and regulations. You are not allowed to release to third parties your reeplay.it username and password, as defined when you enter into the Agreement.

Can I capture any kind of videos?

Although the software tools are generic and can technically work on most web sites, please remember that you are entitled to "capture" only the videos available for free on the web-sites in compliance with the terms of use of the same web-sites. Remember that according to applicable laws and regulations, in any case you are not allowed to "capture" videos in prejudice of the copyright of third parties.
